In 2004, we emigrated to the Aveyron region in the south of France. We had bought a large, authentic French farmhouse “en pierre” (made of stone) where we ran a bed and breakfast, a mini-campsite, and a holiday cottage. We welcomed thousands of wonderful and interesting guests from all over the world and had the time of our lives! In 2017, after 16 years of hard work and nearing retirement, we wanted to take things a bit easier. We bought a more modern and comfortable house with two holiday cottages near Villeneuve sur Lot, just south of the Dordogne. The two cottages were a great way to supplement our fragmented pension. Now, seven years later, and plagued by an ache here and a pain there, we are ready for the next step. After careful consideration, we have decided to have a new house built nearby. It will be built entirely to our own specifications, all on one level, with only what we need. Another new adventure.
Ça va, ça va
As you can imagine, we have experienced a lot over the years. With a bit more time on my hands, I've decided to write down all those adventures. The book includes stories about buying and selling houses, our experiences with our guests, the French way of life, and all the other things I noticed about French culture. I think this collection of stories contains very useful and interesting information for anyone who also wants to move to France. For Dutch people who have been living in France for a while, it will definitely be a fun trip down memory lane.
